We love cities

We had the pleasure to contribute to this important initiative by developing the digital platform for the We Love Cities campaign.

Over half of the world’s population lives in cities, making urban centers key players in driving positive environmental change. To galvanize local pride and global action, WWF launched We Love Cities: a campaign that harnesses the power of citizen voices to encourage city leaders to adopt more sustainable practices. The ultimate goal? To ensure that as our urban areas grow, they do so in harmony with the planet.

Background

Over half of the global population now lives in urban areas, making cities pivotal in shaping our environmental future. WWF sought to tap into that influence with We Love Cities—a global campaign that rallied citizens, city leaders, and sustainability advocates around one central digital hub. The goal was to not only highlight the unique strengths of each city but also encourage concrete commitments to greener living, from large-scale infrastructure to individual lifestyle changes.

Solution

We built a vibrant, easy-to-navigate website that combined interactive illustrations, simple voting mechanics, and an open forum for sharing ideas. Visitors from around the world could “vote” for their favorite city, propose eco-friendly solutions, and see them in real time. By weaving WWF’s brand seamlessly into each visual element—from playful iconography to bold, nature-inspired colors—We Love Cities drove home a clear message: sustainable transformation is both urgent and achievable when local pride and collective action come together.
